What is Cyber Crime?

It is a criminal, unlawful activity which targets the user's network or a networked device.   5. Fake Job Offers: Job Frauds are urbane fraud offering conceived job opportunities to job seekers. Such sorts of offers come from bogus website or through unsolicited email claiming to be recognised brands or companies.
  6. Lottery Scam:  Under lottery scam, fraudsters call you or send emails and messages stating you've got won a lottery and also luring you towards rupees some crore. To receive the lottery money, you'll be asked to transfer money online within the name of tax. Sometimes you'll be asked to pay money by visiting fake websites. If you attempt to make payment using those websites, all of your card credentials are going to be stolen.
  7. Matrimonial Frauds: Due to our active lifestyle, people prefer online matrimonial sites to seek out their life partners. But, the sad part here may be a lot of individuals lose lakhs of cash while finding their soulmates on the matrimonial sites. Fraudsters dupe innocent people by creating fake profiles. 
  8. Tax Scams: Fraudsters send fake refund SMS and emails to taxpayers claiming to be from the tax department. These notifications are mainly sent to collect their personal information like login details of IT Department website, bank details then on. To credit the refund money to your checking account, you'll be asked to supply your sensitive bank information.
  9. Social Media Frauds: With the number of individuals using social media, social media frauds are on the increase. But at the same time, there's the accretion of faux profiles which leads to Cyber Crime in Social Media. It is seen how these fake profiles often spam legitimate users, posting inappropriate or illegal content. 
  10. Mobile App Related Crimes: More and more consumers are shifting to smartphones, tablets and other devices. This signifies it is being a viable target for several cyber-criminal attacks to infect devices and spread malicious activities.
  11. Data Theft: Nowadays, people's idea of creativity is so shallow that without any hesitation they try to copy or imitate the data or entire creation without the creators' acknowledgement. Any such dispute regarding copyrighted works is a punishable offence.
  12. Ransomeware: It is a kind of malware that typically enables cyber extortion for gain and prevents users from interacting with their files, applications or systems until a ransom is paid. Criminals can hide links to Ransomware in seemingly normal emails or sites.
  13. Internet Banking Frauds:  A fraud or theft committed using online technology to illegally remove money from a bank account and/or transfer money to an account in a different bank.
  14. ATM Frauds: ATM fraud is described as a fraudulent activity where the criminal uses the ATM card of another person to withdraw money instantly from that account. It is done by using the PIN. 
  15. E-Commerce Frauds:  E-Commerce fraud is an illegal transaction performed on an E-Commerce platform by a criminal or fraudster by using stolen payment information for online transactions without the account owner’s knowledge or any intimation. 
  16. Gift Card Frauds:  Gift cards are well-liked and convenient to give someone as a present. They’re ways for scammers to steal money from you because gift cards are like cash. If you purchase a Gift card to someone and the person uses it, you almost certainly cannot get your refund. Gift cards are for gifts, not payments. Anyone who demands payment by gift card is usually a scammer.
  17. Credit/Debit Card Frauds: Frauds associated with cards and digital transactions are always evolving. Involving into frauds like cloning, phishing, cyberstalking, fraud, malware attack, email spoofing, cyber extortion, and loss from IT theft. 
  18. Online Drug Trafficking: Online Drug trafficking also involves cybercrime of selling, transporting, or illegally importing unlawful controlled substances, like heroin, cocaine, marijuana, or other illegal drugs using electronic means.
  19. Website Defacement: It is an attack intended to change the visual appearance of a website and/ or make it dysfunctional.Where the attacker may post indecent, hostile and obscene images, messages, videos, etc.
  20. Online Sextortion:  Such frauds can take place both against male and female victims and the perpetrator can be both an unknown person or a known one. Here, the culprit usually entices and induces the victim to share their private and nude photographs or videos over the phone, which are then stored and saved by the former for the future to extort money. 
  21. Cyberbullying: It is very common nowadays of we see young teenagers are harassed, tormented over chatboxes, messaging apps or any social media accounts then such person is accused of the heinous crime of Cyberbullying.
  22. Hacking: It is the most usual form of cybercrime when a hacker gains an illicit hold on people's data like passwords and take advantage of it.
  23. Online Harassment: It is also a punishable offence when an unidentified person over the platform of internet hounds you with malicious intentions comes under serious allegations of cybercrime.
  24. Classified Information: Important data related to trade and commerce, data related to the protection of a state are very high secured data and access to it are very limited due to top-notch security. Breaching those software, applications, and tools come under a serious punishable offence.
