On November 26, 2018, FSSAI made amendments under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 in Meat and Meat Products. Some of the regulations are as follows:-

• Poultry meat shall only be procured from an FSSAI licensed slaughter facility. 
• The Poultry slaughterhouses and processing units must have a quality control program in place to include inspection and testing of incoming, in-process, and finished products. 
• Ensure testing of relevant chemical and microbiological contaminants in food products by these regulations frequently, and delivery of safe food through own or NABL accredited /FSSAI notified labs at least once in six months. 
• Food establishment has an updated FSSAI license & NOC from the local authority. FSSAI license is displayed at a prominent location. 
• Besides one should maintain personal hygiene and sanitization before and after handling poultry
• All frozen foods like meat products should be stored under proper labeling and with adequate segregation to maintain temperature control at the time of storage.
