Dhani is earlier known as Indiabulls. It is a part of Dhani Services Limited. It is a digital financial platform that offers services like instant personal loans, credit lines, and health cards. However, many users report problems such as loan disbursement delays, incorrect deductions, frequent spam calls, or poor customer support. Understanding how to raise a complaint properly is essential to avoid stress and financial loss. Indian consumers are legally protected under the Consumer Protection Act, which ensures timely grievance redressal and fair treatment. In this blog, you will learn how to file a complaint against Dhani.

Common Issues Faced by Dhani Customers

Below are the common issues faced by Dhani Customers:

  1. Unauthorized Loan Sanctions or Deductions

Some users find that loans get sanctioned in their name without their knowledge or consent. In some cases, EMI amounts get deducted from their bank accounts even when they do not apply for any loan. This leads to financial confusion and credit-related problems.

  1. Incorrect CIBIL or Credit Report Entries

Many customers notice errors in their credit reports due to wrong information submitted to credit bureaus. For instance, a loan that is fully repaid shows as unpaid or overdue. This lowers the credit score and affects future loan approvals from other lenders.

  1. Harassment from Recovery Agents

Customers often receive multiple calls from recovery agents in a single day. Some agents use harsh language or pressure customers to repay even when the EMI is not due or the account is settled. This creates mental stress and violates consumer rights.

  1. Loan Disbursal Delays

After a loan gets approved, some users do not receive the amount in their bank account within the promised time. This causes inconvenience, especially for those who rely on the funds for urgent needs like medical bills or education fees.

  1. Poor Customer Service Response

When users try to contact customer support through phone or email, they often get no response or receive automated replies that do not solve their issues. This makes it difficult to track the status of their complaint or get any clear information.

  1. Unresolved Refund Claims

Customers who cancel a service or repay a loan early sometimes do not receive the excess amount back. In many cases, refunds are either delayed for weeks or not processed at all. This creates financial loss and frustration.

  1. Technical Glitches in App or Website

Users face issues while using the Dhani mobile app or website. They cannot log in, view account details, or make EMI payments. These problems lead to late fees or missed deadlines, even when the customer tries to pay on time.

  1. Misleading Offers and Advertisements

Some customers sign up for services based on attractive advertisements or app messages. However, after joining, they find that the actual benefits differ from what was promised. This includes changes in interest rates, loan terms, or cashback conditions.

  1. Privacy Violations and Data Misuse

Customers receive frequent promotional calls or messages from Dhani and unknown third parties. Their personal and financial details are often shared without permission, which raises serious privacy concerns.

How to File a Complaint against Dhani through its Grievance Redressal Mechanism?

Below are the steps to file a complaint against Dhani through its grievance redressal mechanism:

Step 1: Lodge a Complaint with Customer Support

The first step is to approach Dhani's official customer support. This is the primary level of complaint redressal.

  • Phone: You can call the helpline at 1860-419-3333. The number is active during working hours on business days.
  • Email: You can write your complaint to support@dhani.com with proper details.
  • Mobile App: Open the Dhani app, go to the “Help & Support” section, select the type of issue, and submit the complaint through the available form.

In your complaint, clearly mention your full name, registered mobile number, loan or transaction ID, and a brief but complete description of the problem. Attach screenshots, payment slips, or any relevant documents as evidence.

After submission, Dhani provides a ticket or reference number. Use this number to track your complaint status.

Step 2: Escalate the Complaint to the Grievance Redressal Officer

If the support team fails to resolve your issue within 7 working days, or if their reply is unsatisfactory, escalate the matter to the Grievance Redressal Officer.

Send an email to grievance@dhani.com or a letter with your complaint details, the reference number, and copies of earlier communication.

In your escalation, mention:

  • Your registered contact details
  • Complaint reference number from Level 1
  • Summary of your issue and previous steps taken
  • Clear reason for your dissatisfaction
  • Proof of all previous communication and evidence

The Grievance Redressal Officer reviews the matter and provides a written reply within 15 working days.

Step 3: Final Escalation to the Nodal Officer

If your complaint remains unresolved even after 30 calendar days from the initial submission, you can approach the Nodal Officer. This is the final level within the company.

The contact details of the Nodal Officer are available on the official Dhani website or can be requested through customer support. The Nodal Officer examines unresolved or complex complaints and gives the final decision from the company's side.

You must mention:

  • Reference numbers from previous levels
  • Full complaint history
  • Documents submitted earlier
  • Clear request for relief or resolution

This stage closes the internal complaint process of Dhani. If the issue still continues, you may approach external platforms like the RBI Ombudsman or file a case with the Consumer Court.

How to File a Complaint against Dhani through the Consumer Forum?

Here is a step-by-step process to file a complaint against Dhani through the Consumer Forum:

Step 1: Collect All Necessary Evidence

Begin with gathering solid proof related to your issue. Note your loan account number, customer ID, or transaction ID linked to the problem. Keep a printed or digital copy of the loan agreement, repayment terms, and any documents signed during account creation. Take clear screenshots of the Dhani app that show errors such as deduction without approval, failed refunds, or incorrect balances.

Save all emails, messages, and chat records from Dhani customer support. Note every reference or complaint ID you receive. If the issue involves money, print the relevant bank statement that shows a deduction or delay. These documents help establish the truth of your complaint.

Step 2: Issue a Legal Notice to Dhani

Send a formal legal notice to Dhani before taking your case to the consumer court. Mention your name, loan or transaction details and the exact issue. State the action you expect—such as a refund, credit correction, or written apology. Fix a deadline of 15 to 30 days for a reply. Post the notice to Dhani’s registered office through Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due (RPAD). Keep the postal receipt safe. It proves that you officially informed them about the problem.

Step 3: Choose the Correct Consumer Forum Based on Claim Value

If Dhani fails to respond or denies your request within the set period, proceed to the consumer court. Choose the forum based on the total value of your complaint (this includes refund, compensation, and legal costs:

  1. District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (DCDRC): If the claim value is up to Rs. 1 crore, file the case in the district where you reside or where a Dhani branch is located.
  2. State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC): If the claim amount is more than Rs. 1 crore but less than or equal to Rs. 10 crore, the case should be filed with the State Commission in the concerned state.
  3. National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC): If the claim value is more than Rs. 10 crore, file the complaint with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) located in New Delhi. Choose the forum carefully to avoid delays or rejection.

Step 4: Draft the Complaint

Write a complaint that explains your identity and relationship with Dhani. Mention how the issue started, how Dhani responded, and what loss you suffered. Be specific. Ask for clear relief, such as repayment of the deducted amount, correction in the credit report, or compensation for mental stress. Attach these with your complaint:

  • Copy of the legal notice
  • Proof of posting the notice
  • All documents collected in Step 1
  • Past communication records with Dhani

You can submit your complaint in person at the forum office or online through the official complaint portal.

Step 5: Appear for the Hearing and Present Your Case

Once your case is accepted, the forum sends a notice to Dhani. You receive a date for the hearing. Attend the hearing in person or through video call as per instructions. Show your documents and explain your case in simple words. Answer questions from the forum honestly. Respect the forum rules. Keep a copy of every written statement and submission made during the hearing. This helps in case of further proceedings.

Step 6: Receive the Forum’s Order and Ensure Enforcement

If the forum agrees with your complaint, it passes a written order. Dhani must follow this order within the time fixed. This may include a refund of money, correction of your credit report, payment of compensation, or coverage of legal costs. If Dhani does not follow the order, you can file an execution petition in the same forum. This forces the company to act as per the law.

The Consumer Forum offers a legal route to resolve unresolved complaints, but the process often involves long delays, physical hearings, and complex paperwork. It may take several months to reach a decision, with added legal costs and effort. Instead, you can prefer Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), which provides a faster, simpler, and fully digital alternative. It proves to be a more efficient and user-friendly option with minimal expenses, no court visits, and quicker outcomes than the traditional Consumer Forum.

What is Online Dispute Resolution?

Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) is a digital approach under Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) that helps people and businesses settle disputes without going to court. It uses online tools to file complaints, exchange information, and reach fair outcomes. It offers a simple, time-saving, and cost-effective way to handle conflicts using technology from the comfort of your home.

Online Dispute Resolution works through trusted ADR techniques:

  • Negotiation: Negotiation is a simple and direct way for two or more people to solve a problem through discussion. Each person shares their concerns, listens to the other side, and works together to find a solution that suits everyone. It does not involve a judge or mediator, and the people involved make their own decisions. Negotiation helps avoid conflict, saves time, and builds understanding. It is often the first step people take when they want to fix a disagreement in a peaceful manner.
  • Mediation: Mediation is a friendly and informal way to settle a dispute with the help of a neutral third person called a mediator. The mediator listens to both sides, encourages open and honest communication, and helps them understand each other’s point of view. The goal is to reach a solution that both parties agree on, without forcing any decision. Mediation is private, saves time, and avoids the stress of going to court. It works well when both sides are willing to talk and cooperate to find common ground.
  • Arbitration: Arbitration is a way to settle disputes without going to court. In this process, both parties choose a neutral person called an arbitrator, who listens to each side and then gives a final decision. This decision is binding, which means both sides must follow it. Unlike mediation, the arbitrator has the authority to decide the outcome. Arbitration is more structured than mediation but still quicker, less costly, and more private than a court case. It gives a fair and clear solution while avoiding long legal procedures and public hearings.

Why Choose Online Dispute Resolution?

Below is the key reason to choose Online Dispute Resolution (ODR):

  1. Convenient and Accessible

ODR platforms allow users to resolve disputes through digital devices such as smartphones, laptops, or tablets. A person does not need to travel to a court or any legal office. This system supports individuals who live in rural or remote areas where courts or legal professionals may not be available. It also suits people with disabilities or those who cannot attend physical hearings.

  1. Time-Saving

Traditional court procedures involve long waiting periods, multiple appearances, and frequent delays. ODR avoids these problems. It allows the parties to communicate through emails, chat, or video calls at fixed schedules. This system completes the entire dispute resolution process in a short period. Many ODR cases close within a few days or weeks.

  1. Cost-Effective

ODR reduces various expenses that usually arise in regular legal cases. There are no travel costs, court filing fees, or unnecessary legal expenses. Users pay only for the services they need. Some platforms offer fixed and transparent charges. This method makes dispute resolution affordable for common people, freelancers, startups, and small business owners.

  1. Private and Confidential

ODR ensures that personal or business information stays protected. Unlike court cases, which become part of the public record, ODR maintains privacy. The information shared during the resolution process does not become available to the public. This system suits businesses that wish to protect their reputation and individuals who prefer to keep their disputes confidential.

  1. Legally Recognized and Binding

The law in India recognizes ODR. Awards and decisions made through arbitration or conciliation on ODR platforms have legal value. These are valid under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, and Section 89 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. Once the arbitrator gives the final decision, both parties must follow it. This ensures trust and certainty in the outcome.

  1. Flexible and User-Friendly Process

ODR allows the parties to choose a process that suits their needs. They can opt for negotiation, mediation, or arbitration. Each process has clear rules and steps. The parties can decide how they want to communicate and when they want to meet virtually. The platform guides users through every stage. This makes the experience smooth and stress-free, even for those who have no legal background.

  1. Ideal for Digital Transactions

People use digital platforms for online shopping, mobile banking, food delivery, and freelance work. Disputes often arise from these transactions. ODR addresses such issues without interrupting the service or causing delays. It allows consumers and service providers to resolve complaints quickly. This helps in building trust between both parties and improves overall customer satisfaction.

How to File a Complaint against Dhani through ODR?

Here is a step-by-step process to file a complaint against Dhani through ODR:

Step 1: Collect All Relevant Evidence

Begin the complaint process by collecting documents that support your claim. This includes:

  • Loan account number or transaction ID
  • Bank statement showing unauthorized deduction or refund delay
  • Screenshots of the Dhani app reflecting the issue
  • Proof of loan closure (if applicable)
  • Any refund denial email or app notification
  • Copies of emails or chat transcripts with Dhani customer support

These documents form the foundation of your complaint and help explain your issue clearly during the ODR process.

Step 2: Lodge your complaint through an Online Dispute Resolution platform

Visit a reliable ODR platform such as the government-supported RBI’s ODR portal or trusted private portals like Online Legal India.

Step 3: Participate in Mediation Proceedings

The platform assigns a neutral mediator. The mediator communicates with both you and Dhani through video calls, emails, or secure chat systems. You receive a chance to explain your issue, and Dhani presents its response. The mediator studies both versions and guides the conversation toward a settlement. If both parties agree, the case ends with a resolution such as a refund or account correction. This stage ensures fairness without pressure or bias.

Step 4: Initiate Arbitration (If Mediation Fails)

If mediation does not solve the issue, you may proceed to arbitration. This happens only when the mediator confirms in writing that the resolution attempt failed. Arbitration is possible if Dhani agrees or if an arbitration clause exists in your service agreement. The complaint must meet the terms of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, and should be filed within the period stated in the Limitation Act, 1963. You must attach the failed mediation report and all previous documents. The arbitrator uses these to start the legal review.

Step 5: Attend the Arbitration Hearing

The platform schedules a hearing where a qualified arbitrator listens to both sides. You explain your issue and share documents to support your claim. Dhani also presents its version. The arbitrator studies all facts, asks questions, and follows a formal method of resolution. Each party receives equal treatment. The hearing takes place online, without physical appearance or court formalities.

Step 6: Receive and Enforce the Arbitral Award

After the hearing, the arbitrator gives a final decision called the arbitral award. This decision has the same legal effect as a civil court order. Both you and Dhani must follow it. If the arbitrator finds Dhani at fault, the award may direct them to refund the amount or pay compensation. The platform ensures that Dhani follows the order within the timeline. If they fail to comply, legal action can follow as per the award terms.

Conclusion

Filing a complaint against Dhani through Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) offers a practical and lawful way to solve financial issues without going to court. It helps you raise your complaint, present your evidence, and get justice through a neutral, online platform. With clear steps like mediation and arbitration, ODR ensures a fast, affordable, and fair resolution. It protects your rights and brings peace of mind without the stress of legal delays. If you want to file a complaint, contact Online Legal India. They offer a reliable ODR platform to secure your rights, avoid delays, and receive quick legal relief.

My self Salma Gadkari and had taken a personal loan of 40000. My last EMI was supposed to be deducted on 5th Dec, as it was last EMI I was getting no. of calls from your team saying that If i pay that amount before the due date you will start the process for foreclosure and you will waive off late fees. This is said by your team to me . I am sharing the message which is sent by your team. I was supposed to pay 2093 but the link which I have received there says I had paid 2213+ some charges = Rs. 2225 on 29th November. After paying this amount now I am getting a reminder message saying to keep the balance. Firstly I have paid all my EMI's so I will not maintain the balance because I have paid the amount which is extra. and waive off the charges as you have promised. I am not going to pay the bounce charges if you deposit the cheque on 5th Dec, because the payment is already made. Sharing the Screen Shot of the payment. One of your assistant told me that he has sent a request to the foreclosure team. and whatever the penalty charges are, that's all because of this. I pay and you deposit. Then why did your customer care call and send the link to pay early ? I need an answer to this. Also I need a refund of my bounce charges because I had called 20 to 25 times to the customer care and I have sent many mails . If you feel i am lying you can check your inbox.and informed about the EMI i have paid but still u had deposited and cheque got bounced. Do you want me to complain against you all ? I need a solution and revert as soon as possible as I am fed up with the follow up. I didn't face any problem in 2 years but now in the end I am facing a lot of problems. You can share the no. of particular team with whom I can speak.

I downloaded the Dhani app to apply for a loan in Feb-2021. My requirement was Rs 200000 however dhani is approved for only Rs 2500 which was not sufficient. I just uninstalled the app at the same time and logged out from my account. In Jan 2022 almost after a year someone called me. No one communicates the same to me in this one year and suddenly says there is an outstanding of Rs 5260 from my Dhani account as a subscription charge because I was enquired on Dhani app in Feb -2021. Nowadays I am receiving the calls from Dhani 5-6 times in a day with proper harassment which forcing to me for sucide. Kindly confirm gently how it is right now. My query was for a loan not for a card.

How to File a Complaint against Dhani?

Online Legal India LogoBy Online Legal India Published On 09 Feb 2021 Updated On 29 Jul 2025 Category ODR 47 comments
